We can bring our own non-potable water

17 Nov 2015 - How To Choose The Right Color And Shade

Surely you will find loads and loads of painting tips online that are great and will help you paint any wall, but what about the color?  Many of us are very indecisive and we struggle to find exactly what we want, and what’s the point of knowing how to paint a room if you have no clue on how to pick a great color?  Luckily there are many tips that you can follow and use in order to get that perfect color in the perfect shade to make the most of your room and get closest to what you want.

How To Choose The Right Color And Shade

The first thing that you can do, and many people do this, is to go through your closet and see what colors you like there.  You can even make up a whole color palette from only one piece of clothing, and if that is not enough, there are apps that are dedicated to creating a color palette for you from a picture of something, like, in this case, the piece of clothing.  This is a great way to get a good color palette simply because, in clothing, the colors must always compliment each other, and because you will find something you like because you chose those clothes.

You should decide what the purpose of the room is that you wish to paint because, with the paint, you want to set a mood.  Decide when you will be using the room the most (i.e morning or night time) and then what mood you want to create.  If you will be using the room mostly in the morning, bright colors are recommended and if it is a dining room that you will mostly use in the evenings, then you should use darker shades to set the mood.

If you have the time and you want to do something that is really marvelous and splendid, have the color of one room kind of flow into the next, making the house seem more as one rather than giving each room a completely different setting and mood.

A surefire way to get the best possible shade is to get many of the shades of the color that you have in mind and place the paint chips about 2 cm apart on the wall.  The reason is that, when you use only one chip at a time, it is quite easy to imagine a different shade entirely because it is only one small block, and when the whole wall is painted it looks too dark or too light.

Change your lights before you repaint a room rather than after, simply because the light really compliments the color of the room, and you need to select a paint color that will suit the lighting conditions.  If you have a great color scheme and the wrong lighting then it will not look very good and having the lighting installed before painting will help you select the correct color and shade
